  My experience in 2012 still haunts me to this day. I can't sleep so I thought I'd post what happened to me. I had a Total knee replacement. 3 weeks later I woke up and my bed was saturated with heamoserous fluid. I called Mr Schimmen. He sent me to my local hospital for a dose of IV Antibiotics and I was admitted to the Avenue first thing the next morning. A Doctor had a quick look in reception ( Ahh) & I was admitted. No swab taken. Had 2-3 weeks of Antibiotics & sent home. Same thing another 2 weeks later. This time a very small specimen with an insulin needle was taken. I was told it was clear. The first Doc said I had Cellulitis. The physician said I didn't but they'd give me more ABS & Bed rest. The infectious diseases consultant sent me home with iv Ab's via a PICC line & I had to go to my local hospital every day for 34 days. I went back to work unsuccessfully for 1 day. I had a constant temperature & severe pain. It was August. Went back to see Mr Schimmen with a Temp 37.5. He sent me for a Blood Test at The Alfred. Why I couldn't hop across the road to the Avenue to have it IDK?. it was just a basic blood test. Nothing fancy. The infectious diseases consultant called 2 days later said all was ok. In September I was sent by Ambo to The Northern. The Orthopedic surgeon rang Mr Schimmen. I was sitting there. He said that he couldn't do anything & TNH Should take over my care. I was FURIOUS. I'M now in the public system. I was admitted to Rehab twice before having an Arthroscope in Feb "13. I woke up and was told my knee was totally infected. 7 biopsys later. I had staphlococcal Epidermititis. My knee had to be removed. A Cement Spacer inserted. Bed & ABs for 4 months before I could get a new knee. I had no money. I couldn't believe I gave Schimmen $3000 twice on top of my Medibank Blue Ribbon Insurance just because. My young teens had to look after me. Catch the bus to do grocery shopping. I was in bed. I was in different hospitals for almost 200 days. Now I'm alone. Kids gone. Lost my Nursing career. I was an Oncology Nurse all my life. I now have to sell up this spring. I am still in Constant pain. Addicted to Valium, Oxycontin plus more. Under 4 clinics at the Northern. Weekly GP hospitals. Psychiatrist and psychologist appointments. I cancel when I have no petrol. A local charity brings me supplies fortnightly. My friends have gone. Just wanted to let you know Andrew Schimmen! A phone call now or then would be nice. Wouldn't mind my out of pocket back either to hire removalists to my flat wherever that may be. You could've given me an arthroscope but I guess The Avenue wouldn't want to pay for the Lizinozid, Pristinomycin, Ryfampocin, all the Pain meds, anxiety and depression meds plus more. I fall a lot for my age. Stuck with a stick. Probably never have a relationship again. I hope you and your family are fine. Regards.
